About the Artist
I began my career as a self taught artist, following the examples of Grandma Moses and Charles Wysocki. Most of my paintings focus on California in the 50's and 60's and include the changing landscapes as well as observations of events. All of my paintings are of real places and activities that I have taken part in or seen. I have recently begun to paint scenes from other states and I spend part of my time in Santa Fe painting the cultural festivities and people. My style and use of color has been influenced by Santa Fe painter, George Wooliver and Australian painter Ken Done. Although I try to be as true as I can to the representation of the event I am painting, I find lately that I am experimenting more with simplicity in color choice. My latest project is a series of very large people reading at the beach. |
